A Simple DIY Everyday Carry for Street Photography With My Ricoh GR3
This is my simple, lightweight, DIY photo bag and everyday carry (EDC) setup when I’m out shooting with the Ricoh GRIII. Here’s a quick breakdown of what I carry and why I love this minimalist approach!
What’s in My EDC Photo Bag
The Essentials
The main item, of course, is the Ricoh GRIII. I pair it with a basic €20 sling bag from H&M, which is just big enough for my essentials without being bulky or drawing too much attention to the fact that I’m carrying a camera.
Why This Bag Works
I chose this H&M sling because it’s small and simple, which makes it easy to take anywhere without feeling weighed down. Plus, it doesn’t scream, “I have a camera in here!” To make it even more functional, I cut off the original straps and added Peak Design anchors to use with the Leash strap, creating a flexible, customized setup.
The Camera Setup
The Ricoh GRIII has anchors attached, although I had to use a ring on one side because the camera’s attachment holes are a bit small for the anchors. Anyone who’s tried adding anchors to the GRIII might understand the struggle—it’s a tight fit! For the camera, I use the Peak Design Cuff for a secure, comfortable wrist strap.
Additional Accessories
For music and staying in the zone, I bring my AirPods Pro. The Peak Design Leash is attached to the bag itself, and I love how easy it is to adjust. There’s also a pen and a couple of wipes—both dry and wet—because they’re useful for any unexpected situations.
Final Thoughts
I hope this setup gives you some inspiration! I’ve found that EDC doesn’t have to be complicated. A simple setup helps me focus on capturing photos without being bogged down by logistics. Happy shooting!
