My Gear

This is the gear I actually use — for my photography, my videos, and my creative work. Nothing here is aspirational or untested. If it's on this page, it's in my bag or on my desk. Every link is an Amazon affiliate link — if you buy through one, it helps support my work at no extra cost to you.

Cameras

APS-C mirrorless with fast autofocus and serious video specs

Why I use it: This is my main camera. It's compact enough to carry every day but doesn't compromise on autofocus or video quality. For someone who shoots between meetings and on weekends, the size-to-capability ratio matters more than full-frame bragging rights.

Waterproof action camera with a large sensor for its class

Why I use it: I mount this for behind-the-scenes footage while I shoot with my main camera. It's also my travel camera when I don't want to worry about rain or dust.

Half-frame film camera — 72 shots per roll, built-in flash

Fixed 23mm lens compact with legendary film simulations

Why I use it: I pick this up when I want to slow down. The fixed lens forces you to move, and the film simulations mean I spend less time editing and more time enjoying the process. It's the camera that reminds me why I started.

Why I use it: It's the camera I always have with me. The video quality is excellent, it works seamlessly with my workflow, and it's perfect for capturing quick moments or filming when I don't want to carry a dedicated camera.

The camera I always have on me. When the a6700 stays home, this is what I shoot with, and most days it is enough.

Lenses

Fast portrait lens with beautiful background separation

Why I use it: My favorite lens for portraits and detail shots. The f/1.2 aperture gives you that creamy background separation, and honestly — it costs a fraction of the Sony equivalent.

Wide zoom with a constant fast aperture — sharp across the range

Ultra-wide manual fisheye for creative perspectives

Filters

Diffusion filter that softens highlights without losing sharpness

True color variable ND — essential for video in daylight

Cheap insurance for the front element. A scratch hits glass I can replace, not the lens

Why I use it: It stays on my lens most of the time. It protects the front element from scratches, dust, and fingerprints without affecting image quality.

The variable ND for my smaller thread sizes when I want a slower shutter in daylight.

Why I use it: This lets me keep the shutter speed where I want it when shooting outdoors. I don't have to constantly adjust my camera settings as the light changes.

My wider-range ND for long exposures. When one to five stops is not enough, this is the one.

Why I use it: My go-to filter for bright outdoor shoots. The wide adjustment range gives me plenty of flexibility without having to swap filters.

Magnetic filter mount for the iPhone with a CPL. Snap a polarizer on to kill reflections in a second.

Why I use it: It makes mobile filming much more versatile. I can reduce reflections, improve colors, and swap filters in seconds thanks to the magnetic design.

Audio

Compact wireless mic system with great range and clarity

Why I use it: Clean audio in a tiny package. I clip one transmitter on, drop the receiver in my camera, and forget about it. It just works.

USB condenser mic for voiceovers and desk recording

What I wear for reviewing audio and taking calls while I am out shooting or editing.

Why I use it: I use these every day for editing, video calls, and listening back to audio. The noise cancellation helps me focus, and they're comfortable enough to wear for hours.

Light & Flash

60W LED continuous light — the main key light for video

Why I use it: My key light for all indoor video. 60 watts is enough for most setups, and the Bowens mount means I can use any modifier I want.

Desktop panel light with app control

Tiny on-camera flash for quick fill and creative lighting

TTL speedlight for on and off-camera flash

Triggers off-camera flashes from the hotshoe

Storage

4-bay network storage — the photo and video archive

Reliable NAS-rated drives

Accessories

Smaller alternative for lightweight camera setups

Compact tabletop tripod that travels anywhere

My everyday card for stills and 4K on the a6700. Fast enough without paying for V90 speed I do not need.

Why I use it: Fast, reliable cards that I trust for both photos and video. They've never let me down, even during long shooting days.

V90-rated — fast enough for 4K video without frame drops

Seatbelt-style strap with quick-adjust for all-day comfort

Turns the laptop into an offload station on trips. One cable and every card and drive is connected.

Why I use it: My laptop doesn't have enough ports, so this keeps everything connected—from SD cards to external drives—without any hassle.

The quick-connect anchors that let me swap straps in seconds. Small thing I use every day.

Why I use it: They let me switch camera straps in seconds. They're small, secure, and make carrying different cameras much more convenient.

Blower, pen and cloths to keep glass clean. Nothing fancy, always in the bag.

Why I use it: Clean glass makes a bigger difference than people think. This kit stays in my bag so I can quickly remove dust and fingerprints before every shoot.

Holds the phone on any tripod so the iPhone can work as a proper second camera.

Why I use it: A simple accessory that securely mounts my phone to any tripod. It's reliable, quick to set up, and essential whenever I'm filming with my iPhone.

Camera Bags

Minimalist sling — fits one camera and a small lens

Full-size camera backpack with flexible dividers and side access

Why I use it: Fits my camera, two lenses, a laptop, and still looks like a normal backpack. The side access means I can grab my camera without putting the bag down.
